Former President of Ghana, John Agyekum Kufuor, has disclosed that he tried his best to ensure he finished his constitutionally mandated term because he did not want any military takeover of the country.
He indicated that while President of Ghana, he worked hard to ensure that the country enjoyed the needed development in various sectors.
Kufuor, who was speaking to some morning show hosts at his residence, said he had experienced military rule and did not want the country to go back, hence his decision to ensure everything was handled smoothly in the country.
“I had experienced military rule and did not like the consequences of military rule. So, while I was president, I worked hard to ensure that my tenure was over, and I handed over smoothly to the next president of the country. I did everything within my reach to ensure that the country does not return to military rule,” he said.
