The Ministry of Education has asked the public to “disregard” fake reports making rounds on social media that the Government of Ghana has contracted a Chinese firm to mark the just-ended Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for $98 million.
Head of Public Relations at the Ministry of Education, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, noted in a statement that the reports were false describing it as “a pathetic effort at manufacturing lies to court disaffection for government”.
The fake news, the Ministry said, had reported that the deal was signed between the government and Huaseng Maiteng.
Mr Assafuah said there is no such arrangement or contract.
