Ghanaian media personality Kwame Sefa Kayi and veteran journalist and political commentator Kwesi Pratt Jr clashed on Peace FM's Kokrokoo programme on June 3, 2026, over who is closer to the presidency of President John Dramani Mahama.

During the programme, Kwesi Pratt argued that only government intervention could effectively address certain national issues.

However, former Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly Chief Executive, Sam Pyne, who was also a guest on the show, suggested that Pratt should use his alleged connections within government to raise the matter with the presidency.

"You are closer to the government, so talk to the government about that issue," Sam Pyne said.

Responding to the comment, Kwesi Pratt stated, "I am closer to you than to the government. How did I become closer to the government?"

Host Kwame Sefa Kayi then interjected, saying, "The President is your brother; that is why."

Pratt quickly fired back, asking, "Kwame Sefa Kayi, is the President your enemy?"

Sefa Kayi responded, "As for me, I have declared everywhere that President Mahama is my senior brother.

“ It is not something that started today. But because we are talking about Kwesi, that is why I am saying this. How many people in Ghana have written a book and had a sitting President contribute a section to it? Kwesi Pratt is not just an ordinary person."

Pratt then referenced a past incident involving First Lady Lordina Mahama, claiming that she specifically requested Sefa Kayi to serve as master of ceremonies at a funeral.

"When Lordina Mahama had a funeral, she said she did not want anybody else except Sefa Kayi," Pratt said.
