Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo, has disclosed that it will be difficult to beat the Sudan team coached by Ghana's Kwesi Appiah.

The Black Stars were placed in Group F of the AFCON Qualifiers and will come up against Sudan, Angola, and Niger.

Even before the matches kick off in September, coach Otto Addo has given his verdict about coach Kwesi Appiah's team.

"We have Sudan who are really, really doing well at the moment with Kwesi Appiah, whom I know personally. He is a very good coach. They are not a known squad but like I said, they are doing really, really good at the moment in the World Cup qualification games, very, very tough to beat."

Kwesi Appiah was appointed as the head coach of Sudan in 2023. Since his appointment, Kwesi Appiah has led Sudan to an impressive unbeaten streak in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The Sudanese team currently tops a group that includes heavyweights like Senegal and D.R. Congo.

This, according to Otto Addo, will make it difficult for them to beat Sudan.

"It’s going to be a really big challenge to beat them and for this, we have to be at our 100% best. But I am excited to play against them, and like I said, it’s going to be tough. It’s not easy, but we have a strong team and we surely can beat them, this is for sure," he told ghanafa.org.

As a former player and coach for the Black Stars, Kwesi Appiah's tenure was marked by significant achievements.

He is the first Ghanaian coach to have qualified Ghana for the World Cup in 2014.
