In a rare moment of political sportsmanship, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, spokesperson for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s 2024 campaign team, has publicly congratulated the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its newly elected president, John Dramani Mahama, following the latter’s resounding victory in the 2024 general elections.

Aboagye, who has been an active figure in the NPP campaign, took to the airwaves to acknowledge the magnitude of Mahama’s victory.

In a statement during JoyNews’ Newsfile, he emphasized the level of dedication and effort required to run a successful campaign, particularly one of this scale.

“Let me first of all congratulate the president-elect, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, and the NDC party. I think that to run a campaign that long, it does not mean an activity. It’s a lot of work. And so, if you eventually come out victorious, it’s a big deal,” Aboagye said.

His remarks come amidst the tense political atmosphere in the country following the 2024 elections and reflect a level of maturity in acknowledging the democratic process.

Aboagye also expressed his belief that it would be unfair to downplay Mahama’s victory, regardless of political affiliation.

“It’s unfair if anybody tries to downplay that victory. I wouldn’t be happy if it was the NPP that won this election and anybody tried to downplay it,” he added, making it clear that political victories should be respected for the hard work that they represent.

After the December 2024 polls, there have been security concerns across the country. Catch Etsey Atisu's interview with security analyst, Adib Saani, on Election Desk on GhanaWeb TV below:
