Thu, 2 Jan 2003 Source: DAILY GUIDE/ Corrected by McKinley

The jailed former Minister of Youth and Sports, Mallam Issa, has frowned on conditions and situations inmates endure at the Nsawam Prisons, and called on the government to improve the conditions there.

He joined the former Deputy Finance Minister, Mr. Victor Selormey, also serving prison term, to criticize the authorities on the deplorable conditions in the prison, and government's failure to improve the situation at the Nsawam Prison over the years.

The two noted that their outburst against the deplorable condition in prison and the condition of facilities are aimed at making government alive to its responsibilities and to see the need for a review of the current situation in the cells.

They expressed their personal feelings to government through an appeal to the Okyenhene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, during the latter's Christmas visit to the prison.
