Jean Mensa has never visited me — Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe denies Captain Smart’s claims

A founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, has refuted media reports suggesting that the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EEC) visited him.

The report also claimed that after the alleged visit, her husband, Dr. Charles Mensah, contacted her to enquire about her well-being.

Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe, in a statement issued on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, categorically denied the reports, describing them as false and baseless.

"It has come to my attention that certain unfounded and malicious claims have been circulating in the media, specifically one made by Captain Smart, alleging that Mrs. Jean Mensah, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana, visited me, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe. Furthermore, it is claimed that after this alleged visit, her husband, Charles Mensah, contacted her to inquire about her well-being.

"I categorically state that this entire account is completely false and baseless. At no time has Mrs. Jean Mensah visited me, nor have I had any interactions with her regarding any such matter as has been insinuated by these falsehoods. This narrative is a deliberate fabrication, seemingly intended to create confusion and mistrust among the public for reasons best known to its originator," it said.

He also urged the public to disregard such reports, stating that such claims tend to create mistrust among the public

"I wish to set the record straight and strongly urge the public and media outlets to treat such claims with the utmost contempt they deserve. The perpetuation of falsehoods, particularly those aimed at undermining the integrity of individuals or public officials, does a great disservice to our nation and erodes public trust," he stated.

He warned that spreading falsehood could face legal consequences, reflecting his commitment to truth and democratic principles.

"I take this opportunity to remind the media and other individuals who are inclined to peddle false information that the dissemination of such lies is not only unethical but may have serious legal consequences. I will not hesitate to pursue legal action against anyone or any entity that seeks to tarnish my reputation or sow seeds of discord through the spread of such malicious claims," he added.

He reaffirmed his commitment to truth and democratic principles of the country.

"I remain committed to transparency, truth, and the democratic principles that guide our beloved nation," he stated.

These denials come after reports emerged on August 30, 2024, about a supposed conversation between Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe and Dr. Charles Mensa, husband of the EC Chairperson.
