Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah was on target for Columbus Crew as they beat Houston Dynamo to win the Tuscon Sun Cup.
Mensah and compatriot Harrison Afful played vital roles as the Gold and Black won the Preseason tournament.
American forward Gyasi Zardes opened the scoring after just 35 seconds before Mensah added the second three minutes later.
Mensah headed in from a corner after a moment of dominance from Columbus Crew.
Lucas Zelarayan made it three with a deft chip inside the box.
A few minutes later, Harrison Afful delivered a back-post ball to Zardes, who tallied his second of the match.
Houston pulled one back in the second half through McNamara.
Columbus Crew will begin the season with a trip to Champions Seattle Sounders on March 8, 2020.
