A former Independent parliamentary candidate in the Bole-Bamboi constituency of the Northern Region, Mr Issahaku Abu popularly called Kantanka has called on the people of the three Northern Regions to vote for President Mahama.
He believes the President deserves another term in office because of the massive infrastructure projects he injected into the area as well the entire country.
Kantanka called on his supporters to give their support to President Mahama saying, “Ghana will retrogress if Nana Akufo-Addo wins next month’s election”.
The former Independent candidate said this when he spoke to Mr Kotochi Shaibu Jacob, on Bole-based Nkilgi Fm and declared his unflinching support for the President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC ahead of the December 7 polls.
Mr Abu a very popular figure among the youth of Bole took the Bole- Bamboi constituency by storm as an Independent during the 1998 elections moving the youth to support his bid taking advantage of his modesty and honesty.
He later during the 2012 elections threw his weight behind Alhaji Sulemana Adams Achanso the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate for Bole-Bamboi in helping him to garner 8,292 (35.74%) votes as against 14,642 (63.12%) votes for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate and winner Alhaji Joseph Saaka Akati.
In spite of the fact that President John Dramani Mahama was the sitting President and Presidential candidate for the NDC at the general elections, his involvement in the NPP’s campaign garnered a lot of votes.
Mr Abu accused the NPP of engaging in ethnic politics disclosing that he is always overtaken by anger anytime he hears the term “incompetent Northern President”
He described Nana Akufo-Addo as a violent character and is doing everything possible even if it means Ghana descends into chaos to win.
The former independent candidate said the NPP has no message and ridiculed the one district one dam mantra of the NPP.
