The Karaga District Chief Executive (DCE), Alhassan Yabdow has debunked reports that he has been chased out of his office, insisting that he is still at post and have not also fled the town. 3news.com on Wednesday reported that some irate youth of Karaga in the Northern Region believed to be members of the New Patriotic Party, attacked the residents of the DCE accusing him of causing the arrest of two of their people.

The group demanded the release of the two persons who were said to be part of a gang that burnt a motorbike belonging to the District Coordinator of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Mohammed Baba Osman. The ringleader of the group Alhassan Fuseini told Onua News the DCE would be killed if they set eyes on him.

But Alhassan Yabdow insisted he has not been chased out, adding that nobody can drive him out of his house. “Those youth have no power to do what is being reported, they cannot. I am preparing to go to office as we speak and I will go there and work,” he said on Thursday morning.

“I was invited by the NPP Constituency Chairman, Tahiru Zakaria Goora, to explain why some non NPP members they termed aliens, were being employed into the YEA but I insisted that the right thing be done. “I told them the registration now is online so I cannot manually put people on the YEA, but this did not go down well with him” he told the host of Onua FM morning show Bright Kwesi Asempa.

Alhassan Yabdow maintained that he was appointed to serve the people of the district and that is exactly what he is doing. Responding to threats by the youth to end his life, the DCE laughed it off and described it as an empty threat. “Karaga is calm, they are not the appointing authority but I am ready to sit with them to dialogue.”
