The wanted man who is alleged to have killed the two officers near the Liberia camp in Kasoa last Wednesday has been nabbed.

Eric Kojo Duah was arrested Saturday morning by the police while heading to Volta Region.

A situational report from the police states that the prime suspect was arrested at the Atimpoku Bridge in a black Golf car with registration number GW 5972-18.

A GH¢10,000 bounty was placed on his head after he was declared wanted by the Ghana Police Service.

The police have been on the heels of Eric Kojo Duah since Wednesday after arresting three persons in connection with the crime at Kasoa.

Two officers of the Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) of the Service – Sergeant Michael Dzamesi and Lance Corporal Mohammed Awal – were killed while on operational duties.

While Sergeant Dzamesi died on the spot after being fired, Lance Corporal Awal died later at the Police Hospital.

They were said to have signalled occupants of an unregistered Toyota Camry to stop at the Kasoa checkpoint.

But after the driver – suspected to be the arrested – defied their orders, they mounted a chase, which landed them at Aplaku.

It was at this spot that hot exchanges ensued between them. The killer, however, pulled rifle from his car and shot at the unarmed officers.

So far, the persons arrested – Ibrahim Zakaria, Isaac Amissah and Dominic Commey – have been arraigned before court.

Visiting the families of the deceased officers, the acting Inspector-General of Police, James Oppong-Boanuh, directed that all MTTD officers be henceforth armed.

He also announced fresh training for officers from Monday, September 2.
