A senior police officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rockson Gyasi, has been found dead at his family residence in Akweteyman in Accra, prompting an investigation by the Tesano Divisional Police Command, according to myjoyonline.com report.

The body of the officer was discovered in the early hours of Friday, March 13, 2026, after his wife, Mavis Boateng, reportedly found him lying motionless on the kitchen floor at about 5:00 a.m.

According to an official police situational report (SITREP), the deceased was found in a pool of blood when his wife woke up and went into the kitchen area of their home. She subsequently alerted the Tesano Police at approximately 5:46 a.m.

Police officers who responded to the distress call arrived at the scene and found DSP Gyasi lying on his back. An examination of the body revealed severe injuries on both cheeks. Investigators also found the officer’s service pistol placed on a kitchen stool close to the body.

DSP Gyasi, who was stationed at Tsito in the Volta Region, had reportedly travelled to Accra on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, to visit his family.

Preliminary investigations have also uncovered messages believed to have been sent by the officer to his wife via WhatsApp on the day he arrived home.

According to investigators, the messages reportedly contained a statement suggesting that he was “going back to where he came from.”

Police say the message is being carefully examined as part of the investigation to determine whether it may be linked to the circumstances surrounding his death.

Crime scene investigators from the Police Headquarters have since processed the residence, documenting the scene and collecting evidence, including photographs of the body, the firearm, and the electronic messages for further forensic analysis.

The body of DSP Rockson Gyasi has been transported to the Police Hospital Mortuary in Accra, where it is expected to undergo a post-mortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.

Meanwhile, the Tesano Divisional Police Command says investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances that led to the discharge of the weapon and the events preceding the officer’s death. Authorities say further updates will be communicated as the investigation progresses.
