Korankye Ankrah’s appeal to gov't to pay contractors 'good' - Duncan-Williams

Founder and leader of the Action Chapel International, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams has described Rev Sam Korankye Ankrah’s appeal to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to pay the contractors in his church so they can pay their tithes and offerings as a “good thing.”

According to the Archbishop, there are church members who are business men and contractors who come to him requesting for prayers and also call on him to encourage the authorities to pay them [contractors] monies owed them by governments.

The founder and leader of Royal House Chapel International, Rev. Sam Korankye Ankrah, made the appeal during his sermon on Sunday, 16 September 2019.

“Mr President, I’ve contractors and businessmen in my church, they must be paid for the work they have done so they can pay tithe and offerings so that we can go to Tamale Prisons, so we can go to Tamale University and hold crusades, so that we can preach the gospel so that we can help the poor, so that we can pay the school fees of the intelligent and the people who have graduated from the Free SHS who are now hanging, queueing, waiting for money to go to the university. Mr President, please pay my contractors for me, I beg, pay them, pay them,” the Apostle General said.

Rev Ankrah’s appeal to the President followed calls by the Road Contractors Association of Ghana on the government to pay all arrears due its members.

Sharing his thoughts on his colleague man of God’s appeal to government in an interview on Accra-based Joy FM, on Friday, 4 October 2019, Archbishop Duncan Williams said: “I think it’s a good statement, I mean we’ve people in our churches who are contractors, business men and women and a lot of them haven’t been paid and sometimes they come and talk to us to pray and to talk to people in authority to encourage them to pay them.

“So I think that if there are people, which he has, in his church who are contractors and things, they can’t pay their staff and their workers and they are struggling and everything, I think it’s a good thing as a Christian leader to intervene on behalf of the contractors and people in the business community that those in authority should endeavour to do something about the payment of the contractors and our business men, I think it’s a good thing.”
