David Boakye has questioned how the La Pleasure Beach demolition could take place in the constituency of Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, the La Dadekotopon MP and Deputy Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, without her knowledge.
Speaking on Newsfile on JoyNews, Boakye challenged the MP’s claim that she was not informed about the October 2, 2026, operation, which affected entertainment businesses and vendors at La Pleasure Beach and Polo Beach Club.
“How can this demolition go on in a constituency where the member of parliament is the deputy local government minister in this administration and she did not hear of it?” he asked.
Boakye also criticised Sowah’s public response to the exercise, saying: “And now look at the way she’s wailing there just to get the sympathy of her people that she didn’t know about.”
Sowah had condemned the demolition, saying she, the local municipal assembly and traditional authorities were not informed before the operation. She also maintained that the government had previously assured her that the area would be spared.
