Tongraan Naab Kugbilson Nalebegtang, Paramount Chief of the Talensi Traditional Area has said he will not stand in the way of the media seeking to genuinely expose wrongdoing by his subjects and companies operating in his jurisdiction.

He has refuted claims of aiding to ‘kill’ a story about Shaanxi Ghana Mining Company, a Chinese mining firm operating in the Talensi District of the Upper East region.

A leaked telephone conversation allegedly between Starr Fm’s Upper East Regional Correspondent Edward Adeti and Mr. Rockson Ayine Bukari mentioned the Tongraan as having proposed the hoarding of a news report that has the tendency to affect the operations of the Chinese Mining firm.

The Paramount Chief has in a statement issued on Saturday April 27, 2019 copied to MyNewsGh.com dissociated himself and the Talensi Traditional Council from the claims made in the leaked conversation.

The statement said “We want to state categorically that we dissociate ourselves from the comments so made in the tape”.

It further stated that the Tongraan is unaware of the matters discussed in the tape and has no interest in same.

On support for the Shaanxi Mining Company, Naab Kugbilson Nalebegtang told MyNewsGh.com that he supports safe deep underground mining which the company does because it is environmentally friendly and called on other small scale miners in the area to partner with professional mining companies that have the capacity to do same.
