Former Member of Parliament for Nanton Constituency in the Northern Region of Ghana, Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed has appealed to members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), particularly the aggrieved ones to bury their differences and be united body ahead of election 2020.

According to Murtala Mohammed, the NDC needs to be united in order to recapture power from the “incompetent” NPP administration who are bent on destroying the destiny of Ghana with their “incompetent policies”.

The former Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry in the Mahama administration, made the appeal in Accra during the occasion of a lecture organized by the Coalition For Restoration [CFR], a movement within the NDC.

He said from the way things are moving, the country’s image needs to be salvaged and the NDC can only do that when the party members forgive each other and bury their differences.

Murtala Mohammed whose lecture anchored on education, governance and industrialization said the ruling NPP has failed Ghanaians woefully on its campaign promises. The NPP has failed to achieve even one positive thing since it assumed leadership of this country.

He mentioned that the much talked free Senior High School [SHS] policy of government was shamefully implemented without the adequate resources despite the warnings by Civil Society groups and political parties.

The foundation of every nation is anchored by quality education delivery which is not the case in Ghana at this moment and if care is not taken the destiny of Ghanaian students is been destroyed by the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led government.

The NPP has no direction and vision as to how to find better solutions to resolve the challenges facing the free SHS policy. The future of young Ghanaian students is been toyed with by the government.

On governance, he pointed out that again the NPP has failed as its vigilante groups are breaking the laws of Ghana with impunity simply because some top figures within the NPP are backing them.

The former Nanton MP was of the view that these vigilante groups are been nurtured, funded and protected from the Flagstaff house. He cited instances when notable NPP Parliamentarian dared the legal and security authorities and threatened that should the Delta Forces culprits be jailed, something will happen.

Murtala Mohammed who also served as Deputy Trades and Industry Minister under the John Mahama regime, further pointed out that the NPP even in opposition did not hide their hatred for the Electoral Commission Boss, Madam Charlotte Osei upon her appointment to lead the Commission.

Leading NPP members from day one of the woman’s appointment started accusing her wrongly and calling her undeserved names. Their agenda is to either remove her from office which they cannot at the moment or discredit her.

He warned that should anything happen to Madam Charlotte Osei that leads to chaos in this country; President Nana Addo and Dr. Bawumia must be held responsible.

“The NPP is bent on plugging this beloved country into chaos and anarchy based on the trend they are towing,” he said.

He indicated that the 2018 budget presented to Parliament by the Finance Minister was shambolically and deceitfully presented backed with strong public relations strategy to hide the truth. Every budget presented by successful governments was based on the spirit of honesty and transparency but the 2018 own is exceptional.

According to him, “Ghana and Ghanaians deserve better than what was presented by the Finance Minister.”

The NPP promised industrial transformation but nothing can be written home of that promise as they have failed to do nothing that can transform Ghanaian businesses.

He challenged Dr. Bawumia to tell Ghanaians one positive thing the NPP has done since they took over office eleven months ago.

He commended the Coalition for doing what NDC as a party has failed to do for a very long time and suggested for such lectures to be extended to other parts of the country.

On his part, the CFO Communications Director, Mr. John Jerry Gyasi Mensah, said the objective of the Coalition is to restore the National Democratic Congress back to office during election 2020 to salvage the image of Ghana which is been dented by the present administration.

The Coalition which started as a social media group has now transformed into a full fledge movement made up of students, teachers, businessmen, traders, politicians amongst others.

The maiden CFO lectures which was held under the theme: Analysis and Expectation of 2017/2018 Budget to Drive the Change from Taxation to Production‘’ was chaired by George Loh, a former MP for the North Dayi Constituency, in the Volta Region.

The massively attended lectures, also brought together NDC stalwarts such as Hon. Isaac Adongo, MP for Bolga Central Constituency, Mr. Sylvester Mensah, former CEO of the National Health Insurance Authority [NHIA], Civil Society groups like the Center for Democratic Development [CDD Ghana] amongst others.
