Executive Director of IMANI Ghana, Franklin Cudjoe is calling on the entire nation to remember President John Dramani Mahama in prayers so he leaves a good legacy as a president.
According to him, the president’s recent interview with Al Jazeera clearly shows that he is capable of ruling the nation despite some mishaps in his government.
President Mahama in an interview with Al Jazeera over the weekend admitted that the controversial airlifting of 3 million dollars by his government to pay bonuses of agitating Black Stars players during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil “didn’t do us any good service”.
He expressed optimism that the Dzamefe Commission, which is investigating the circumstances that caused the scenario, will come up with appropriate measures to prevent a future occurrence of the incident.
The president also self-proclaimed that Ghana is in crisis under his leadership but hopes the problems will be solved.
“Ghana is a very well respected footballing country, we have a very good team and we’ve had very good football administrators, but I think that this [airlifting of money], didn’t do us any good service. I think with the current commission that is sitting - it's led by a much-respected judge and I’m sure that they are going to come out with all the facts so we learn and not repeat the situation,” the president said.
Shortly after the interview, the IMANI boss took to Facebook to commend the president for accepting the unpardonable mistake created by the Youth and Sports Ministry.
“You've got to give it to President Mahama. The Aljazeera interview revealed to me a 360-degree presentation of the Mahama I knew when we were both guests discussing the need for a national vision on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show before he became Vice-President.
“..The level of detail and the backbone with which he delivers his answers is always executed perfectly. Often he leaves even the sophisticated little room to object when he evades a few crucial questions,” he said.
“In the Aljazeera interview, he was honest about the challenges facing the economy and even suggests he will be glad to pay the ultimate political price...
“..When the interview was over, I asked myself, where did we go wrong? How did such a fine young gentleman, who looked every bit serious for a country such as Ghana, end up with so much confusion in deeds?” Franklin questioned.
“Whilst I still look forlornly at the results of President’s Mahama’s stewardship so far, I have but one thing to say, let us remember Mahama in our prayers so he could leave a legacy that he himself would be proud of,”he added.
