Members of Parliament have been asked to exercise maximum circumspection in commenting on bribery statements reported to have been made by Alban Sumana kingsford Bagbin, MP for Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency.

Minority Leader Osei-Kyei Mensah-Bonsu made the appeal on Friday, when the issue came up for discussion on the floor.

Mr. Bagbin is reported to have made the comments at a workshop in Koforidua last weekend.

But leadership of the House assured that efforts are being made to get to the bottom of the matter.

“I will only plead with colleague Members of Parliament to exercise the greatest circumspection in further commenting on this matter,” said the MP for Suame Constituency, Mr. Mensah-Bonsu.

The Majority Leader, Dr. Benjamin Kunbuor, on his part, said leadership is not unaware of the “fine line of distinction" between lobbying and bribery as alleged by Mr. Bagbin.

“Leadership assures that whatever is appropriate would be done to elicit the truth in this matter, and no effort will be spared in this regard,” he assured.

He indicated that Mr. Bagbin has been out of the jurisdiction on official assignment, but would be engaged on his return.
