Mahama gets 3/10 on Minority score sheet

The Minority Leader in Parliament has scored President Mahama's two years in power, 3 out of 10 adding that he has been abysmal in his performance.

According to the minority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, the "unprecedented borrowing and directionless leadership of this government is even likely to send us back into HIPIC (Highly Poor Indebted Country).

He was speaking on TV3's News and current affairs program, Agenda where he lamented the frustrations Ghanaians and the business community have had to endure under the Mahama administration.

His colleague on the other side of the House, Majority Leader, Alban Bagbin however scored the current administration 7 out of 10. He added that "we have had challenges and as a focused government, we are working towards solving those problems and making life better for our people so with all that under consideration, I would give 7 out of 10."

The Minority leader at a press conference on January 8 cited declining GDP, increasing inflation, high cost of living, double digit fiscal deficits for two years in a row, government’s inability to meet its statutory obligation, rising cost of doing business, taxes, rise in corruption, youth unemployment among others as signs of a "sinking ship", advising Ghanaians to "come together, roll up our sleeves and put our shoulders to the wheel".

The Suame Constituency Member of Parliament noted that the so-called star projects of government captured in the 2015 budget statement are rather having a negative toll on the economy.
