President John Mahama received a resounding welcome upon his arrival at the Cape Coast University on Thursday as students sought to take selfies with him whilst others presented books and other materials to be autographed.

The visit was part of President Mahama’s "Accounting to the People Tour".

Addressing the students, he stated that he had already directed the fast-tracking of the process to allow tertiary institutions to replace aging staff and also recruit new staff to address the problem of large parity between lecturer-student ratio at the university.

He further charged students saying, “I see many entrepreneurs amongst you who will grow small businesses into multi-million dollar business conglomerate in the future and employ people far beyond the expectation of government. I see a nation filled with an energetic, innovating and promising youth ready to take advantage of the rising opportunities that government is generating together with the private sector.

“This is possible because we have navigated the rough terrain and have found ourselves in the path of rising opportunities, entrepreneurship, and a changing Ghana. Our country Ghana is changing, and the change is occurring in the right direction because it is backed by the implementation of prudent, sound and deliberate policies and programmes which I pledge I continue to lead as President.”

It was after his address that student thronged the hall to share quality moment with the president.
