Mahama's boy begs Ghanaians for peddling falsehood about Akufo-Addo

Sammy Gyamfi, a lackey of the Mahamas, has arrogantly offered a public apology to Ghanaians for deliberately peddling falsehood that President Akufo-Addo sneaked out of the country secretly and unceremoniously to attend the Global Citizen Festival in South Africa without informing Parliament as required by law.

The Global Citizen Festival was held in South Africa in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Nelson Mandela, a former South African President and global icon.

Even though President Akufo-Addo duly notified the Speaker of Parliament in a letter dated November 30, 2018 about his trip to South Africa, which was on the invitation of Cyril Ramaphosa, President of South Africa, Sammy Gyamfi, the newly-elected Communications Director of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), found it expedient to tell lies about him.

Mr. Gyamfi, in a Facebook post, mischievously stated that “it gets even shocking and bizarre to note that the President did not inform Parliament about his trip contrary to the constitutional imperative to do so whenever the President intends to leave our jurisdiction.”

Interestingly, the letter to the Speaker of Parliament, which was signed by the President himself, was read by the NDC Member of Parliament (MP) for Nadowli Kaleo and Second Deputy Speaker, Alban Bagbin, during one of the proceedings in Parliament.

After it become obvious that he blatantly lied, Mr. Gyamfi took to Facebook again to apologize but insisted that he was right in some instances.

He posted “admittedly, I got the point about the lack of Parliamentary notification for the President’s SA trip wrong. I hereby retract and apologize.”

According to him, “However, that point is only one of the many issues I raised in my post. As a matter of fact, it doesn’t change or impair in any way, the substance of my post. Our NPP friends cannot therefore hide behind this to exonerate the President from blame in this matter.”

He added that “the crux of my case is that it was a misplaced priority and abuse of the public for the President and his family to have attended the SA musical concert at the expense of the Ghanaian.”

Mr. Gyamfi has simply been exposed over his falsehood and incompetence as far as researching issues before making allegations is concerned because about 96 NDC MPs in Parliament had information about the President’s trip to South Africa.

Several world leaders like German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, Kenya President, Uhuru Kenyatta, directly or indirectly participated in the concert attended by an estimated 75,000 global citizens.

Millions of people across the world reportedly followed the event on television, radio and internet, with renowned international artists such as Beyonce, Jay Z, Pharell Williams treating the audience to wonderful songs during the concert in Johannesburg on December 2, 2018.
