Paul Afoko, the suspended national chairman of the New Patriotic Party has stated that his younger brother Gregory Afoko is innocent in the murder of the Upper East regional Chairman Adams Mahama.
The Accra District Court on Tuesday committed Afoko, to stand trial at the High Court on March 23, 2016 for the commencement of his murder trial.
Reading his judgment, the presiding magistrate, Mr Koku Worlanyo, said based on the evidence presented by the prosecution, there was a “compelling case for the accused to answer at the High Court”.
Afoko and Asabke Alangdi have been charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit crime and murder.
But speaking on Starr Chat Wednesday, Mr. Afoko told host Bola Ray that his younger brother is innocent and the truth will prevail soon.
“Gregory Afoko is my younger brother who has been falsely accused of killing the late Adams Mahama...my opinion is that my brother is innocent…and the truth will prevail,” Afoko said.
