The Director-General of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), Prof. Michael Kpessa-Whyte, has noted that the caution by President Mahama to heads of State-Owned Enterprises is a signal for them to manage their resources properly and revive their enterprises.

He noted that the directive is a non-negotiable marching order and a call to duty.

“More importantly, I saw his [Mahama’s] speech as marching orders, telling all of us, myself, my colleagues, and everybody who was in that room that there will be clear indicators around which your performance will be measured,” he stated as quoted by citinewsroom.com.

President John Mahama in an engagement with the SOEs said he would not hesitate to merge, privatize or collapse non-performing SOEs.

“Loss-making SOEs will no longer be tolerated. They will be swiftly reformed. They will be merged, privatized, or shut down,” the president declared.
