Manhyia South MP sues Akwatia MP, Blakk Rasta

Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has filed a Writ of Summons against Akwatia MP Bernard Bediako Baidoo and broadcaster Abubakar Alhassan, popularly known as Blakk Rasta.

The lawsuit, filed on Monday, September 28, 2026, follows what the Manhyia South MP described as false statements allegedly made against him by the two.

According to a report by citinewsroom.com, the lawmaker said he had decided to seek redress through the civil courts rather than pursue criminal charges.

“I have today, 28th September 2026, filed a Writ of Summons against the underlisted persons for spewing falsehoods against my person.

“Unlike the government, I have chosen the path of democrats, by seeking relief through civil court rather than pursuing criminal prosecution for the publication of false news,” he stated.

The lawsuit comes amid an ongoing dispute over the alleged detention of Salomey Baffoe and Camilla Alhassan.

Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah alleged that the two women are currently in police custody as part of what he described as an attempt by state security agencies to intimidate and silence him.

He further alleged that Salomey Baffoe was “kidnapped by state security agents” late on Saturday and remains in police custody, adding that the alleged actions would not stop him from pursuing the matter.

“The above having been said, I wish to state that the attempt by the government to intimidate and silence me in my quest to fight for the poor mother of three (3) minor children who was kidnapped by state security agents… and remains in police custody has failed,” he said.

He said his immediate focus was to secure the release of the two women and help reunite them with their families.

“I remain committed to fighting for Madam Salomey Awiti Baffoe’s liberty as well as Camilla Alhassan to ensure that they are reunited with their family who await their return,” he added.

The MP did not identify in his statement the specific comments or publications by Baidoo and Blakk Rasta that form the basis of the lawsuit.
