The Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu, has indicated his readiness to begin investigations into the case of the 275 buses secured by the acting chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay.

The buses, YEN.com.gh understands, are to be used by the 275 constituency representations of the NPP.

Blay, has at the moment, taken delivery of a 100 of the buses, and the 175 left are expected to follow soon.

He is reported to have made a down payment of 3 million dollars, which constitutes 30% of the total cost of 11.4 million dollars for the 275 cars.

According to his spokesman, the buses are not for free, but are to be used to raise monies from the constituency level of the party.

This, it has been further explained, will help generate revenue to settle the debt over a two-year period.

This, however, did not go down well with his closest contender, Stephen Ntim, who equated the action to vote buying.

In his opinion, the fact that Blay failed to extend this gesture to the party during the 2016 campaign period raises a lot of questions.
