Mavin Senaya plays for AJ Auxerre
AJ Auxerre full-back Marvin Senaya has described his first call-up to the Black Stars as a moment of “pride and joy,” as uncertainty continues over his international future.
The 25-year-old defender has been named in Ghana’s squad for the upcoming friendlies against Austria and Germany, marking a major step in his international career.
“A lot of pride and joy,” Senaya said after receiving the call-up.
However, the situation has been complicated by Togo also including the defender in their squad for friendlies against Guinea and Niger.
Togo head coach Patrice Neveu has insisted the player had already given a positive response to represent his side, suggesting he had committed verbally to join their camp.
Senaya, who is eligible for multiple countries, now finds himself at the centre of a tug-of-war between the two West African nations.
His inclusion is seen as part of Ghana’s effort to strengthen the right-back position, an area that has lacked consistency in recent years.
With both teams expecting him, the player’s next move, whether he reports to the Ghana or Togo camp, is set to determine his international future.
