Voters in the Ejisu constituency will cast their ballots today, April 30, 2024, to elect a new Member of Parliament. This follows the death of John Kumah, who was elected in 2020 on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Kumah, who served as a deputy finance minister at the time of his passing, was also the NPP candidate for the December 2024 elections.

The main opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has opted not to field a candidate, stating that it wishes to focus its resources on the 2024 general elections.

GhanaWeb has profiled a prominent candidate, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, a former MP for the NPP, who is now running as an independent candidate.

Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, born on September 7, 1960, holds a BSc (Hons) from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and is a senior member of the Ghana Institute of Engineers.

He served as the Highways Engineer at the Tamale Highways from 1987 to 1994, then as the Project Engineer from 1994 to 2002.

Subsequently, he was appointed as Regional Director from 2002 to 2008 before his tenure as a Member of Parliament.

He represented the Ejisu Constituency from 2009 until 2020, when he was defeated by the late John Kumah in the lead-up to the 2020 elections.

He has also served as a deputy minister for Roads and Highways.

The list of candidates, in the order they appear on the ballot paper, is as follows:

Esther Osei (CPP)

Kwabena Boateng (NPP)

Beatrice Boakye (LPG)

Kwabena Owusu Aduomi (Independent)

Gabriel Agyemang Joseph (Independent)
