General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Koku Anyidoho says late President Prof. Evans Attah Mills’ “father for all” style of leadership made it difficult for his government to avenge the kind of persecution suffered by some NDC officials under the eight(8)year rule of the NPP administration.
According to him, President Mills’ high level of tolerance and his forgiving nature which is widely acknowledged ensured that officials of the then New Patriotic Party administration lived peacefully after the NDC government assumed power in 2009.
Koku Anyidoho while speaking on Kasapa 102.3 FM’s Si mi so show Monday, on the upcoming 3rd President Atta Mills’ Memorial Lecture on July 21st to be addressed by Immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, extolled the magnanimous nature of late President Mills such that even his enemies were never harassed in any way.
“Several NDC government officials and members went through hell under the NPP’s eight (8) rule, you can talk of Victor Selormey and Dan Abodapki who were jailed, the harassment on Ex President Rawlings and his wife among others, but as you know late President Mills never retaliated against the NPP officials when the NDC took office”.
Mr Anyidoho who was also the Director of Communications at the Presidency during the Mills Administration, added that late President Mills must be credited for his leadership style which was politics of tolerance and inclusion rather than exclusion as was witnessed under NPP regime.
Meanwhile, this year’s lecture coincides with the (71st post-humous) birthday of the late President Atta Mills, who was President between 2009 and 2012.
