Mobile phone thief jailed 10 years

Kofi Adjei, a 22-year-old unemployed man, has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in hard labour by the Tarkwa circuit court for stealing a mobile phone valued 200.00 Ghana cedis.

He was convicted on his own plea.

Prosecuting Chief Inspector Edward Paddy told the court presided over by Mr. Samuel Obeng Diawuo that the complainant Gertrude Obiri Yeboah is a sales girl residing at Nsuta Senior Staff bungalow while the offender live at Nzema line a suburb of Tarkwa.

Inspector Paddy said on October 10, the complainant was in a taxi from Tarkwa Senior High School when Adjei snatched her phone through the back window of the taxi.

He said the complainant shouted and Adjei was arrested and handed over to the police.
