NPP Communicator, Henry Nana Boakye has prayed the Supreme Court to sentence the contemnors, Salifu Maase alias Mugabe, Alistair Nelson and Godwin Ako-Gunn to prison.
Speaking on Tuesday's 'Kokrokoo' on Peace FM, Nana Boakye, popularly called Nana B stated categorically that the trio deserve to face life in prison to serve as a deterrent to others.
Speaking in relation with the Supreme Court ruling on the contempt case, he alluded to the NPP Election Petition which saw the Editor of the Daily Searchlight, Ken Kuranchie and an NDC activist Stephen Atubiga spending some time in prison.
“Ken Kuranchie was imprisoned. Atubiga also went to prison. As for me, looking at my study of law and the comments they made; it’s true that we can reduce the sentence," Nana B stated, further stressing that but for him, "they should go to prison.”
He also appealed to the National Media Commission (NMC) to seek Parliamentary approval to legally enforce certain rules on media operations in the country.
He urged the NMC to have a strong legal backing to check the use of vitriolic language and other unethical practices in the media landscape.
