Police in the Eastern region have rescued a 7-year-old girl who was chained in a bush by her parents.
Agnes Asantewah was chained and starved for a week by her mother and step-father for eating their food without permission in their village called Dobidi.
She was rescued Tuesday by the Police following a tip off by an assembly member.
Narrating her ordeal to Starr News, Asantewah said she dished out some of the food meant for her parents because she was hungry.
She added that her mother got angry, hit her head with a stick and later tied her to a tree for a week without food.
Asantewah is currently in the custody of the police.
The Station Officer, Chief Inspector Seth Ehurem said Asantewah will be handed over to the Social Welfare Department.
The Police is currently hunting for the mother and the stepfather of Asantewah.
