Former Member of Parliament for Nantong Constituency and former Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. Murtala Ibrahim Mohammed has revealed that Muntaka Mubarak Mohammed confirmed to the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that indeed there was a bribe given to the ministerial vetting committee.
He made this claim on the mother of all talk shows Alhaji and Alhaji on Radio Gold Saturday when expressing his opinion on the show.
According to Murtala Mohammed, he is shocked and still can't understand why his party leadership is sitting on this information making it seem as if the three accusers Mahama Ayariga, Alhassan Suhuyini and Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa were just making false claims.
"It still baffles me, is it not true the leadership of the NDC met with the Minority in parliament over this issue? And is it not also true that Hon. Muntaka and the rest of the Minority on the vetting committee confirmed that indeed there was a bribe given? So what is really happening?
"I want to know whose interest our party leadership is protecting? What exactly do they want to achieve? I cant get it. Are we serious as a party to win power in the next election? And we are not ready to expose the very people who accused our party of being corrupt and went ahead to accuse the former number one gentleman of the land of being corrupt?
"This same Boakye Agyarko who was accused of giving bribe to the minority for their endorsement as Power Minister reaffirmed his claim that former President Mahama and his government were corrupt before the vetting committee. So why are we defending such a person when we have an open evidence against him?” Hon. Murtala Mohammed revealed.
He added: "to me, I don’t see this as trying to betray any comrade in the minority. It is about the party- NDC- proving to Ghanaians the very people who lied their way to win power on the bases of painting the NDC as corrupt are the real corrupt people. I want to use this opportunity to congratulate the three honorable men who have stood on the path of truth to expose the mess in our parliament. It's a difficult thing to do but I think it will benefit not only the NDC but to help this country clean our parliament,” Hon Murtala Mohammed said.
