My husband is rich – Hannah Bissiw Boasts

Dr. Hannah Louisa Bisiw, Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture, has reacted angrily to DAILY GUIDE’s publication of her lavish birthday celebration where her husband presented a brand new 4×4 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, worth over $120,000, to her as birthday gift.

Virtually taunting Fortune Alimi, Editor of DAILY GUIDE, for poking his nose in what she describes as her private matter, the Tano South Member of Parliament (MP) said her husband, Dr. Francis Kpormego, a Jamaica-based medical doctor, is fabulously rich.

According to Dr. Bisiw, who is a veterinary doctor by profession, her husband was a well-to-do person who owned over six major establishments. Unfortunately she failed to go into the details of these establishments.

The Minister was speaking in a phone interview with King Edward of Hello Fm in Kumasi on Wednesday morning. DAILY GUIDE’s Editor, Fortune Alimi, was also live on the show through another phone line.

Dr. Bisiw explained that her husband travelled from his base in Jamaica just to throw the mouth-smacking birthday party, held at the Tema Development Corporation (TDC) premises on Saturday night.

Top NDC officials reportedly graced the mega party. Some of them allegedly complained about the open display of opulence at a time the country was in crisis.

She said her husband came to Ghana for just three days to be part of the historic event before leaving to Jamaica to continue with his tight schedule, stating that most of the attendants of the big event were family members and friends of her husband.

Dr. Bisiw said she saw the nice looking Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, decorated and parked at the event premises but since the place was a public place, it never occurred to her that her husband was about to present it to her as a birthday gift.

“Since the place is a public place, I saw it but I thought it was for the other people that have visited the place that day,” the NDC MP who is part of the President Mahama administration that is struggling to fix Ghana’s ailing economy, said.

The Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture noted that it came to her as a big surprise when her husband finally announced that the expensive car was his present to her on her birthday, saying that she was kept in the dark until the car was presented to her.

Dr. Bisiw wondered why DAILY GUIDE had decided to make unnecessary noise about her private birthday bash, and also complained bitterly that the newspaper was fond of reporting about matters concerning her, noting that trend ought to stop.

Mr Alimi dismissed the assertion that DAILY GUIDE had focused its attention on her, saying that in as much as the deputy minister continued to enjoy the privilege of a public officer riding on the tax payer’s money, she should expect more publications.

“She cannot gag us from writing about her if she makes news”, the editor said.
