Former President Jerry John Rawlings says his preference for the presidency in the elections still remains a top secret.
“My vote still remains a secret and I am not ready to make it public now”, Mr Rawlings reportedly told Citi Fm in an interview in Accra.
However, the founder of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) divulged that he was in a more comfortable position to tell the public those he prefer to occupy the seats in the National Assembly.
Mr. Rawlings’ relationship between executives of the NDC upon assumption of office in 2009 has been frosty leading to his wife, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, breaking away to form the National Democratic Party (NDP).
Former President Jerry John Rawlings, who was receiving the leader of the ECOWAS Election Observer Mission, Olusegun Obasanjo, also expressed his displeasure over alleged attempts by some Members of Parliament to massage the results of the elections.
According to him, some NDC MPs including Alfred Agbesi Woyome’s brother have lost the moral high ground and are bent on using violence to continue hanging on to their seats.
“When the political atmosphere is devoid of a moral high ground by any one of the parties, then it can be quite provocative because some people are bent on using violence to perpetuate their stay. There is this chap in one of the Tongu areas, these Woyome chaps. The NDC candidate has gone to report to a collection of queen-mothers as well to the assemblies, accusing the NPP candidate and the independent candidate of plotting to use machetes on the Election Day,” Mr Rawlings alleged.
