The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has issued an apology to the Senior Executive Vice President of MTN Group, Ebenezer Twum Asante, after his image was mistakenly published during a routine operational exercise at the Accra International Airport.

In a statement dated April 14, 2026, NACOC explained that the exercise, conducted on February 19, 2026, involved behavioural detection measures, including sniffer dogs, advanced scanning equipment and profiling techniques to monitor passenger movements.

The Commission said photographs were taken at various stages for documentation purposes, some of which were later shared on its official social media platform.

It clarified that Asante was inadvertently captured in the images but stressed that he is not connected to, nor involved in, any ongoing investigation.

“NACOC herein sincerely apologises to Mr Ebenezer Twum Asante for any inconvenience, distress, or misunderstanding the publication may have caused,” part of the statement said.
