Controversial lawyer, Maurice Ampaw has described beleaguered businessman, Nana Appiah Mensah alias NAM 1 as the Jesus Christ on earth.

He insists the incarcerated Chief of Executive Officer (CEO) of gold dealership firm until his arrest in Dubai operated a genuine business in Ghana and did not defraud anyone as claimed by the Bank of Ghana and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

“I have always said NAM 1 is a very clean person and can be equated to the Jesus Christ on earth. Until people started branding him as a criminal, thief and fraudster did he ever take someone’s money without paying the accrued interest”, he quizzed on Kumasi-based Otec Fm monitored by MyNewsGh.com.

He claims Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta in concert with the Bank of Ghana (BoG) and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) deliberately closed down gold trading hub, Menzgold because it threatened the existence of his Databank, MyNewsGh.com has learnt.

According to him, his wife and family who have about GH¢1 million locked up with Menzgold revealed that the company could not have said to be operating illegally when under the regulators it operated for over 5 years.

“Those saying Menzgold Company was operating illegally should refrain from the propaganda. Didn’t Menzgold pay tax and SSNIT to the government? Can a fraudster pay tax and SSNIT to the government? Government is aware of the Menzgold operation. The government, Bank of Ghana deliberately collapsed Menzgold Company because Menzgold operations was collapsing Bank of Ghana and Ofori Atta databank” he said.
