The ruling National Democratic Congress(NDC) is calling for a fresh voters' register at the Kperiga electoral area in the Walewale constituency of the Northern region following the Electoral Commission’s report confirming that the New Patriotic Party's vice presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamadu Buwumia was verified outside the designated exhibition center.

According to the party, Dr. Bawumia’s conduct has incurably compromised the register and could not be relied on for the 2016 elections hence the call for a fresh register.

The Northern regional communications officer of the NDC, Amin Mohammed, told starr News that Dr. Bawumia tempered with the voter's register when it was taken to him for verification.

According to him, the running mate only set to achieve an agenda he plotted during a similar exercise by the EC in May this year.

Amin alleged that Dr. Bawumia had bused people from elsewhere to the Walewale constituency to register at the Kperiga polling station during the Limited Registration Exercise by the Electoral Commission.

He added that Dr. Bawumia "criminally induced" the officers to bring the Electoral materials including the voters register for the Kperiga Presby JHS Block 'A' to his residence to verify these people he had bused for the exhibition exercise.

"During the registration, it was suspected that Bawumia had bused people outside that polling station/constituency to register in his polling station. He took those people to his house and the officials went and secretly registered them, but because we didn't have enough evidence we did not report the issue; we put our eagle eye in that constituency particularly that polling station.

"And ever since, we have had boys to monitor the polling station and the activities of Dr. Bawumia with the whole of Walewale constituency, so when the people were supposed to be verified, knowing very well that we are very watchful they again decided to go and keep those guys in Buwumia's home; so they got this equipment to his home to verify the very people he had brought to register".

According to Mr. Amin, the voters' register ceases to be credible when the officers allegedly carried it along with other materials to his residence and therefore the commission should immediately initiate process to register again, voters at Kperiga polling station.

He added that the party would contest the election results if the EC fails to listen to them.

"The Electoral Commission should again re-register people in that particular polling station because the credibility of the register has been compromised".
