The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) is targeting 57% in the upcoming general election.

Deputy National Campaign coordinator of the party, Mr. Adu Yeboah made the announcement at a press conference in Acca Monday.

According to him, the NDC has already secured 50% and that its primary task is to increase the margin by additional 7%.

He dismissed the assertion in some quarters that the unending power crisis will affect its electoral fortunes. According to him, the president has virtually solved the problem, and that Ghanaians will stop talking about it by the end of August.

The NDC campaign coordinator claimed that the energy crisis is only experienced in the Greater Accra region and that the rural areas have been exempted from the crisis.

The NDC ahead of its 14th campaign launch on Sunday at Cape Coast Sports Stadium in the Central Region said, the venue for the occasion was strategic since Cape Coast as a region had helped the party very well in the history of the NDC party.

The national campaign spokesperson for the party, Madam Joyce Mucktar Bawa said, Cape Coast as a region gave the NDC party a win in 2008 with the late President Mills, followed by the current President Mahama who also chose his Vice Amissah-Arthur from Cape Coast.

The Theme for this year’s campaign is, “Changing Lives and Transforming Ghana”.
