NDC wins all 15 parliamentary seats in Upper East

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has won the 2024 presidential elections in the Upper East Region by a large margin.

Certified results indicate that the former President polled 361,597 votes out of the 477,726 valid votes cast to beat his main contender, Vice President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who garnered 106,700 votes.

The NDC also overwhelmingly secured all the 15 parliamentary seats across the region, thus taking away the only seat being held by the NPP in the Binduri Constituency prior to this year’s elections.

In the Bolgatanga Central Constituency, Isaac Adongo, the incumbent MP retained the seat with 35,101 votes to beat his main competitors Mr. Elvis Atia Awonekai of the NPP; and Peter Akunlibe of the People’s National Convention (PNC) who polled 15,470 and 404 votes, respectively.

In Bolgatanga East, Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine of the NDC retained his seat with 12,002 votes ahead of Matthew Silas Amoah of the NPP and Edwin Atia of the Progressive Alliance for Ghana (PAG) who had 7,415 and 61 votes, respectively.

Similarly, in the Chiana-Paga Constituency, Nikyema Billa Alamzy of the NDC garnered 22,548 votes to beat Mr. Robert Aloo of the NPP, who polled 12,884 votes.

In the Builsa South Constituency, Dr. Clement Abas Apark of the NDC retained his parliamentary seat after polling 8,974 votes.

He beat Daniel Kwame Gariba of the NPP and Mr Seidu Christopher Akanzeboka of the PNC who had 5,061 and 1,639 votes, respectively.

In Builsa North, the incumbent MP, James Agalga of the NDC secured 13,344 votes to beat Kofi Thomas Alonsi of the NPP (10,157 votes) and Ransford Joseph Asuok of the PNC (146).

Simon Akibange Aworigo of the NDC garnered 26,190 votes to beat OtitoWerseh Achuliwor Abdallah of the NPP, who had 12,203 votes in the Navrongo Central constituency.

In the Bongo constituency, Charles Bawaduah of the NDC polled 30,114 votes to beat Diana Aduko Aburiya of the NPP who had 9,528 votes

In the Talensi constituency, Daniel Dung Mahama of the NDC won the seat polling 22,575 votes, ahead of Robert Ayinenaba Alibo of the NPP and Dr Michael Wombeogo of the PNC, who polled 8,787 and 1,496 votes, respectively.

The incumbent MP, Dr Mark Kurt Nawaane of the NDC, polled 11,192 to beat Charles Taleo Ndanbon of the NPP, who had 6,680 votes in the Nabdam constituency.

In the Bawku Central constituency, Mahama Ayariga of the NDC retained his seat against Paul Atale Agobiri of the NPP and Emmanuel Anaba of the All-People’s Congress (APC), polling 25,350 votes as against 3,855 and 308, respectively.

In the Zebilla constituency, Ebenezer Alumire Ndebilla of the NDC polled 33,750 votes to beat Dr John Kingsley Krugu of the NPP who had 12,900 votes, and Madam Patience Akparipoka Ndebugre, an independent candidate who had 1,414 votes.

In the Garu constituency, Thomas Winsum Anabah of the NDC polled 17,832 votes ahead of Madam Lardi Georgina Azumah of the NPP who had 7,936, while in the Pusiga constituency, Madam Laadi Ayii Ayamba of the NDC retained her seat polling 19,557 votes to beat Hanan Abdul-Wahab of the NPP and Paul Simon Anaba who had 15,798 votes and 338 votes respectively.

In the Tempane constituency, Madam Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba of the NDC also retained her seat after securing 19,378 votes to beat Joseph Dindiok Kpemka of the NPP who had 13,351.

In the Binduri constituency, Issifu Mahmoud of the NDC polled 21,943 votes to beat the incumbent Abdulai Abanga of the NPP, who had 7,811 votes, and Alale Amadu of the APC, polling 160 votes.
