THE VICE President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, has stated categorically and that the NPP government has no hands in the killing of Ya-Na.

He said neither he, (Vice President), President Kufuor, the Ministers of State nor any member of the NPP would want to kill the Paramount chief for anything.

?This government will not kill anybody for any reason if it even has the courage to do so because it will rather tarnish our good image and pose a serious problem for the party,? he said.

?The NPP leadership are not murderers and will not even think of becoming one,? he added.

The Vice President made the disclaimer while addressing the Zongo community at Aboabo in the Asawase constituency in Kumasi.

Aliu Mahama who described the accusations as a lie and baseless, wondered why the liars have decided to tarnish the image of Kufuor?s government with such a serious issue.

He called on Ghanaians not to be influenced by baseless and false accusations, which may mar the peaceful atmosphere in the country but rather pray that only the truth comes out.

The Veep also advised that in what ever they do, they should stand by the truth since according to him; it is only the truth that can set them free in all their ways.
He explained that the late Ya Na was a friend to the NPP, particularly to President Kufuor long before they came to power and that they used to visit him.
Aliu noted that when the NPP came into power, he visited the Paramount Chief and paid him another visit at Yendi where he was reported dead two weeks later.
Touching on the affairs of the Zongo communities, the Vice President stressed the need for them to fight poverty, which to him, is their strongest enemy instead of fighting among themselves.
He also charged them to live in peace with one another because that is the only way they could enjoy peace and development.
?Without peace and love there can never be development and progress,? he stressed.
The Veep described as unfortunate that most of the young men in the zongo communities normally allow themselves to be engaged in all forms of social vices like ?machoism?, armed robbery and stealing.
He advised them to refrain from such acts and rather use their strength to protect their families and communities.
The Regional Minister, S.K.Boafo, called on the people to be more vigilant and alert so that nobody or political party could engage them in any forms of violence.
He stressed the need for them to support the government to carry out its good policies effectively.
The Wangala Chief, Ahmed Ibrahim commended the government for a number of projects being undertaking in the Zongo communities.
He also praised the Vice President for helping to ensure peace between the Faila/Tijania and the Al Sunna Muslims in the communities.
?Ever since you set up the committee to settle the issue three years ago, both parties are living in peace,? he noted.
Ahmed Ibrahim noted that the zongo communities do not have much problems with admission for their wards in the primary and secondary levels but in the university level.
He therefore called on the Veep to institute a protocol list for five children in the zongo communities so that when they reach the university level, they could easily get admission to boost the interest of others.
