The most unfortunate thing that has ever happened in this country, according to a member of the NPP communication team, Isaac Acheampong, is the statement from the son of the first President of Ghana, Dr Sekou Nkrumah, who has asked the NPP petitioners to admit defeat in the 2012 general elections.

He said that Dr Nkrumah has disappointed his family and his father.

Speaking on Okay FM, he said that he should have rather honoured Nana Akufo-Addo for sending the 2012 presidential election results to court, as this case will change the electoral process of the country whether the petitioners win the case or not.

He added that this case before the Supreme Court has revealed all the secrets and rules of elections to the ordinary Ghanaian, indicating that if Dr Nkrumah wants Ghanaians to learn from what is going on in court then he should not be selfish but allow them to benefit from the petition.

“Sekou Nkrumah is a hypocrite; he has disappointed his family, father and Ghanaians,” he stated.

He said that Sekou Nkrumah has just shown evidence of hypocrisy in his statement when he suggested that the NPP could not have won the election with the ‘Free SHS’ policy, whereas he endorsed Nana Akufo-Addo against candidate John Mahama in the 2012 election.

Isaac Acheampong was of the view that Sekou Nkrumah has been bought by the NDC and that is why he is making such a statement because he canvassed votes for Nana Addo on that same ‘Free SHS’ policy.

He however said that it is wrong for Sekou Nkrumah to mention that the NPP went into the 2012 election with one policy, adding that the educational policy of Nana Addo was also about the welfare of teachers first before it trickles down to the classrooms and this to him is a major policy the NPP wanted to implement.
