NPP knows NDC has peformed but they keep deceiving Ghanaians - Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has accused the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) of using Goebbels Policy of lies and deception to hoodwink Ghanaians in order to attract votes in the December polls.

Joseph Goebbels was the chief Public relations strategist of the late German leader, Adolf Hitler, who widely resorted to lies and deception to court public sympathy.

According to President Mahama, even though the NPP can see projects embarked upon by the government, its members pretend no development project exists. The president made this comment when he addressed a rally in Bolgatanga last night as he rounded up his campaign in the region.

“In politics if your opponent comes out and says he has seen what you’ve done, then he has no business in contesting you. So the behaviour of our political opponents is not strange at all. So even when they can see the record of this government, they have to keep singing to Ghanaians that the government has done nothing,” the president said.

He said like Goebbels, the NPP keeps repeating lies to the people of Ghana hoping that it will become the truth one day.

President Mahama called on NDC members to trumpet their achievements to assuage the lies of the opposition parties.

”The opposition has constantly made noise that we have not done anything because they are refusing to recognize our development contribution and it is for us to keep reminding them of what we have done”, he said.

During the tour, President Mahama visited all the constituencies of the region, inspected and inaugurated development projects, paid courtesy calls on chiefs and held meetings with party members in the Region.

He also addressed rallies and introduced parliamentary candidates of all the constituencies and appealed to the people to avoid voting ‘skirt and blouse’ as that could create problems for the Executive if the party did not obtain a majority in Parliament.

The President expressed confidence in the performance of the Electoral Commission in the past years and hoped that the Commission would once again conduct this year’s elections effectively to deepen Ghana’s democratic credentials among her peers and beyond.

Throughout the tour, President Mahama repeated his call on Ghanaians to live in peace and unity to pave way for growth and development.
