A member of the NPP communication team, Benjamin Gyewu-Appiah, vowed to resign if the Ministry of Health does not dismiss staff involved in a shocking incident at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital.

The hospital, located in the Central Region, allegedly discharged a patient and dumped her in a bush after failing to identify her family members.

The patient, believed to be in her late 60s with a plaster of Paris (POP) cast on her legs, was found abandoned in a bush at Gomoa Ojobi.

According to police sources, the victim had been receiving treatment at Winneba Trauma Hospital after being involved in an accident.

Gyewu-Appiah, visibly shaken and unable to hold back tears, called on the government to sack all individuals involved in this act, which reportedly led to the woman's death.

He made his sentiments clear during a live broadcast on UTV's morning show.

“Why do we treat humans as animals? If we don’t come together and give the Ministry of Health a 24-hour ultimatum to sack those at the Winneba Hospital involved in taking a patient into a bush due to inability to pay bills, I will resign from the party,” he declared.

He emphasized that this issue transcends politics, stating, “This has nothing to do with politics, but I will ensure anybody who got involved is sacked.”

Official details about the incident and the circumstances leading to the woman's death, as well as the roles played by the hospital staff are yet to be made public.
