A Former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Yamin, has suggested to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to desist from slaughtering their supporters as if they are animals.
He urged the NPP to devise strategies that will unseat President John Mahama than to fight among themselves and blame it on government.
‘We will be going on elections and what NPP thinks is right is to fight among yourselves than to focus on how to unseat a president who is more popular than your presidential candidate Nana Addo, a president who is by far marketed than the NPP itself,’ he said.
Speaking with Ultimate news, Mr. Yamin rubbished claims by the Acting Chairman of NPP, Freddie Blay that the NDC has paid some journalists to report on negative happenings in NPP to the advantage of the latter.
‘We will not concentrate on them, if they fight, kill themselves, the media will pick it, even if we pay them or not. The media wants news to broadcast so whatever the NPP will do, they will publish it,’ he asserted.
The Former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, who expressed shock at the allegation levelled against the NDC, said they will not waste their resources to influence media reportage.
‘We will not focus on that, I don’t think NDC will waste time to use money to influence reportage of NPP, a problem that we never created in the first place. We are not ready for that,’ he pointed out.
He refuted claims that the NDC government has set up a media fund to create confusion in the NPP.
‘If the acting Chairman of the NPP says that then I will be very much surprised with the statement, knowing very well that his wife owns one of the biggest newspapers in Ghana, that’s Daily Guide. If Daily Guide’s publication of happenings in NPP is as a result of the NDC influencing them to do that, then Blay could go ahead and make such assertions. But I have read from Daily Guide’s reporting on suspension of Afoko and others, and even read from one of their reporters Takyi Boadu’s wall any time he wants to comment about Afoko and their group. If Blay says we have paid their reporter to write their stories, then we leave them to his own judgments,’ he said.
