Johnson Asiedu Nketia has accused the Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, of indulging in politics of deceit to win public sympathy in the impending general election.

According to him, the fanciful promises being made by the NPP was a sign of desperation, stressing that no serious political party would engage in such an outdated politics.

Speaking on Accra based citi fm on Wednesday, Mr. Asiedu Nketia otherwise known as “General Mosquito” insisted that Ghanaians are not taking the NPP serious because of the inconsistency in their promises.

“When they [NPP] talked about free SHS and they were attacked, then they said they will add free basic school... It appears they don't know what they are talking about. Ghanaians are fed up with them [NPP],” the general secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)charged.

President John Mahama has described the promise by Mr. Akufo-Addo to building hostels to accommodate 'Kayayeis' in the country as insulting to the dignity of northern girls.

But in a swift response, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has stated that the President’s comment is indicative that he has “completely lost touch with the concerns and aspirations of the suffering masses of Ghana”; as the head potters are constantly abused and have to endure the hazards of sleeping unprotected on urban streets and pavements and therefore the hostel is a necessary measure.
