NPP’s Edmund Kyei takes on Asiedu Nketia

Asokwa constituency communication director of the NPP is infuriated by comments made by Johnson Asiedu Nketia aka ‘General Mosquito’ that sought to ridicule the just ended campaign tour of Nana Akufo-Addo, which was dubbed “The Rise And Build Tour”.

The general secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) sarcastically labelled the tour by the NPP flagbearer as a “Rice and Beans tour” and questioned why the opposition party could embark on such an exercise when its national executive is in total disarray.

Edmund Kyei reacting to the claim said he doubts whether Mr Asiedu Nketia was in the right frame of mind at the time he uttered those unsavory remarks.

“His comment was naïve and absolute nonsense! As a senior officer of the ruling party one would have thought that he would have restrained himself.

“But once he decided to throw caution to the wind some of us are also going to respond in that manner,” Mr Kyei angrily told this reporter in a telephone interview.

The NPP activist could not fathom why executives of the NDC have blatantly refused to call their chief scribe to order despite his incessant public outburst and total lack of respect towards others.

While urging the media to disregard such misguided statements by politicians, Mr Kyei stressed that “now I understand why George Boateng asked Asiedu Nketia to visit the Pantang Mental Hospital for mental examination.

It would be recalled that George Boateng, the NDC youth activist who wanted to challenge President John Mahama for the party’s presidential slot dared Asiedu Nketia to visit the hospital for mental treatment.

This was after Asiedu Nketia had also questioned Mr Boateng’s mental status due to his decision to contest a sitting president.

Mr Kyei further turned the heat on Koku Anyidoho, who recently said the NPP’s continuous call for a new voters’ register was an attempt by the party to prevent northerners and ewes from registering in its strongholds.

He said such erroneous claim was a sign of desperation and fear and thereby urged Ghanaians to treat it with the contempt it deserves.

“The NPP respects the rule of law and would not engage in any act that would disenfranchise qualified voters, so Mr Anyidoho must respect himself and respect the will of Ghanaians,” he added.
