A former national chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Haruna Esseku says President Mahama would be unseated after the Supreme Court rules on its election fraud case.

According to him, the main purpose of the NPP disputing the election results is to unseat Mahama and prove to Ghanaians the many irregularities that occurred during the 2012 elections.

“This court thing is to unseat Mahama and we are going to unseat him” Haruna Esseku said in an exclusive interview with XYZ News.

Mr. Esseku also described as “absolute nonsense” suggestions by some members of the NPP that the petition challenging the 2012 Presidential elections at the Supreme Court is a ploy to keep Nana Akufo-Addo to contest for the flagbearership position ahead of the 2016 elections.

“That is absolute nonsense, excuse me for using that word but I don’t find any better word to say we are in court because we want to retain Nana Akufo-Addo”.

Mr. Esseku added that Nana Akufo-Addo has the right to contest for the party’s flagbearership at the next congress and it is erroneous for anyone to suggest that the party is preparing him for 2016.

“What is the connection here…so do they mean that the 85 plus members of the of the National Executive Council do not have brains…if he [Nana Akufo Addo] wants to go again the time would come and then we would decide but we would not use this court case.
