NPP will be booted out if election 2020 were held today - Ahmed Ibrahim

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Banda constituency and Deputy Minority Whip, Ahmed Ibrahim has asserted that the ruling NPP will lose the general elections if it were held today.

According to him, the poor governance system exhibited by the NPP government clearly shows that they have lost touch with the people of Ghana.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' program, he explained that the NPP government after promising heavily to the people of Ghana has failed to simply alleviate the suffering of Ghanaians.

"It is evidently clear that if elections were held today, the NPP government led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will be booted out of government," he said.

"The disbursement of Common fund has even become a problem for this government. The Mahama administration before leaving office had settled all debt for the District Assembly Common fund so if the government is even struggling to pay common funds, how can they fulfil its promise to Ghanaians," he asked.

"Ghanaians are fed up with the NPP government and I know that come 2020 they will be voted out of power," he added.

Meanwhile, the minority in parliament have threatened to boycott this year’s mid-year budget review.

According to them, until funds are released for the payment of the MPs common fund, Health Insurance debt and other debts owed by the government, they will not attend the mid-year budget review.

The Member of Parliament for Banda constituency and Deputy Minority Whip, Ahmed Ibrahim, explained that the Finance Ministry has refused to release funds for the payment of the aforementioned projects and programs, and that is suffocating most of the MPs who depend on the common fund for various projects in their constituencies.

"Until the Finance Ministry releases money for the payment of the common fund and other debts, he should not come to Parliament to present any mid-year review budget," he said.
