Unlike earlier reports that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are likely to seek a review of the Supreme Court ruling, Jake Otanka Obetsebi Lamptey, chairman of the NPP has strongly indicated that they are not going to seek a review.

According to him, the National Executive Council (NEC) and Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo had already taken a decision that they are not interested in a review; ‘and that is what we are going to abide by’.

“The decision not to seek a review as indicated by Nana Akufo-Addo has been endorsed by the Executive Council and it is the official position of the party; it has not changed. As Nana Akufo-Addo said, we shall not seek a review; the NPP has spoken: we shall not be seeking a review…” he indicated in an interview on Citi FM on Tuesday.

He, however, asserted that the party’s next action will be determined by the recommendations of a committee they have set to look into the ruling of the Supreme Court, especially, if it finds that the ruling was influenced by political affiliations, as a renowned lawyer, Tsatsu Tsikata, has alleged citing Justice Anin-Yeboah.

The Party, NPP, has set up a three-man committee made up of Lawyer Ayikoi Otoo, Joe Ghartey and Papa Owusu Ankomah to look into the Supreme Court ruling and make recommendations to the National Executive Council.

Speaking on the same platform, Dr. Arthur Kennedy, a member of the NPP expressed satisfaction in the fact that his party will not be seeking a review.

He said: “I am happy that we will not be seeking a review. I think Nana Addo spoke very well and we should not try to walk him back from what he said. We were all disappointed at the ruling, but it is time to move on; nobody will be in power forever; God can give us victory in 2016”.
