The National Union of Ghana student has threatened to sue Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana (POTAG) and the University Teachers Association of Ghana if they embark on any strike this year.
President of National Union of Ghana Students, Sammy Binfoh Darkwa, told XYZ News that students suffer a lot anytime lecturers embark on a strike.
Mr. Binfoh-Darkwa added that students can no longer be treated unfairly by lecturers due to their issues with the government.
“Over the years this phenomenom has been going on for a long time, the least problem POTAG or UTAG gets with government; they go on strike and those who suffer are the students. We feel that we have been treated unfairly for far too long and it is time that thing stops”.
“When they go on strike for a period of time and they come back, they come and rush through the academic calendar…therefore NUGS has decided that if POTAG or UTAG pursues this agenda again we will take them to court”.
“We have been taken for granted for far too long, we are saying that they should find means of dealing with their issues whenever they have problems with the government and should not rather punish us”.
